Boreholes : Hydro-geological Surveys

Before drilling a borehole it is advisable to do a hydro-geological survey of the site to increase the likelihood of finding water when drilling.

(1) Global positioning system equipment is used to provide a reference for the magnometer data -
see (2).

(2) A magnometer is used to take quick and easy recordings all over the site on a 20m grid.


(3) The magnometer data is interpreted by specialist software that plots the geological structures below the ground, indicating the best points to drill.
