(1) Before : The pipe from the dam previously ended | (2) After : Cement blocks have been used for the pipe/canal transition sump. As the incoming pipe is lower than the outgoing canal, the sump serves as a level-raiser, and pressure breaker. It also acts as a sediment trap, so that the water going down the canal will be relatively free of solids. |
