Dams : Siphons

Installation of a siphon over the embankment.

(1) Before - the delivery pipe under the embankment was blocked so no water could come out the old valve.

(2) The new valve is being anchored by casting a block of concrete above and slightly behind the old valve.

(3) The siphon going over the crest of the embankment.

(4) After - the siphon in operation, allowing water into the canal, and on to the lands for cultivating crops.
