Materials Investigations
Dams for Africa undertakes investigations into a variety of natural aggregates as well as some 'waste' materials to determine their engineering properties and suitability for use as aggregate in concrete, base courses in roads, and railway ballast. In particular the company has been involved in some large investigations of metallurgical slags to determine their suitability in the construction industry.
Once a suitable sampling plan has been established in accordance with SANS 195, and the appropriate SANS (or other) tests
selected for the material/aggregate, testing is arranged at accredited laboratories as required. Thereafter the test results are analysed and a report submitted to the client including results and recommendations.
Contact Dr Nicholas Papenfus (see CONTACT PAGE) if you have a material or a waste product that you would like to have evaluated for its possible use as an aggregate in the construction industry.
