Investigations, Reports, Proposals, Designs, Business Plans

Dams for Africa undertake investigations on behalf of communities that want to use a water source to grow food and to move away from hunger and poverty. The water source may be as simple as a borehole (well), or a small stream, from which water may be diverted to their fields via a canal, or it may involve building or repairing a dam to store water for subsequent irrigation, and the solution may also involve the installation of the irrigation system.

Generally the first step is an inspection of the site, followed by a report that considers the water potential of the site, and which includes recommendations for repair or reinstatement in the case of existing infrastructure, or the building/installation of new water infrastructure. The report may also take the form of a proposal, business plan, design. Finally, assuming funding is obtained, the proposed solution may be implemented, either directly by Dams for Africa, working with the community, or by Dams for Africa acting as project managers, again involving the community as much as possible.
