Weirs

Weirs are small dams in rivers/streams that may either be used as balancing dams or diversion structures. In a balancing dam the stream fills up the body of water behind the weir overnight. This greatly supplements the available water for day time irrigation. On the other hand, a diversion weir raises the height of the water to a level where it can begin flowing into a canal.
